7. What's the best way to care for fake fur?
All fur fabrics sold on this website excluding the Tissavel furs and Asian woven furs are cold water machine washable/air dry only. They are "knit" faux furs. Do not dry clean a knit faux fur. Dry cleaning will not affect the look of the fabrics, but it will reduce softness.
The Tissavel and Asian woven faux furs are DRY CLEAN ONLY.
8. I saw a fur throw at Walmart for $40. Why are yours more expensive?
Many store chains are carrying faux fur items these days. Some are quality faux furs, but most are made from what is called "cuddle fur". Although cuddle furs are soft, they are much thinner than traditional faux furs, weigh less, have a small amount of stretch, aren't as durable and won't last nearly as long. Your Walmart throw will last one season. Your Faux Paw Furs throw, if properly laundered, will last your ENTIRE lifetime.
Another factor affecting price is where an item is made. Most fake furs are manufactured in Asia. If your throw is also made in Asia and imported into the US as a sewn item, you will pay less. If you buy a throw made here in the States, you will pay more. You do get what you pay for, so if the price seems too good to be true, it probably is.
9. Why are your furs by the yard more expensive?
Faux Paw Furs does not import faux fur fabrics into the US. Wholesale fabric importers/buyers must order 300 yards of each fur pattern from the Asian manufacturers. Only those vendors pay wholesale for the furs, and they must have large warehouses to store the fabrics. Those wholesalers can then sell their furs by the roll, half roll or buy the yard. We mostly buy by the yard, and therefore pay more per yard than other online faux fur vendors who buy much larger quantities.
10. Does fake fur shed?
Yes. Fake fur does shed, especially in the beginning. Once all of the loose fibers are discarded, the fur shouldn't shed anymore. To encourage shedding, wash the fur. For full washing instructions, click here. If shedding persists, brush the fur like you would brush a cat. A final suggestion would be to use a masking tape lint roller rolled against the grain of the fur. Each of these methods will shed loose fibers.
11. I have a retail/online store, and I'd like to sell your blankets in that store. Do you drop ship?
You bet! If you would like to sell any of our items in your retail or virtual store, please contact us. We are happy to give you discounted pricing and drop ship for you.
